Colorectal Committee Chairman, NSABP Department of Medicine Chief & Professor, University of Florida
Carmen J. Allegra, MD, is the NSABP Foundation Colorectal Cancer Committee chair and is a board-certified medical oncologist with expertise in the study and treatment of colorectal cancer.
Dr. Allegra joined the National Cancer Institute’s Clinical Investigations Branch (CIB), CTEP, DCTD in April 2016 to provide expertise and oversight of the GI cancers clinical trials portfolio. His initial appointment was under an interagency agreement between NCI and the University of Florida Health where he served as Chief of Oncology and Hematology, Department of Medicine and is presently an independent contractor for the NCI. Dr. Allegra is well known to the national and international GI communities and to the NCI and is the former GI Disease Committee Chair for NRG Oncology.
Dr. Allegra is dividing his time between his responsibilities at the NSABP Foundation, the University of Florida Health and NCI/CTEP.
